Obscenity Trials and fREADom: Why Groups Try to Censor "Offensive" Material

Obscenity Trials and fREADom: Why Groups Try to Censor "Offensive" Material In-Person

Whether or not a work is considered obscene depends on its perceived value. But who determines what does and does not have value? Join the ParDi Club and Professors Audrey Antee, Carl Colavito, and Mark Creegan for a discussion on why groups try to censor “offensive” material such as William Burroughs’ novel Naked Lunch or Robert Mapplethorpe’s photography. This event is sponsored by FSCJ’s Library and Learning Commons in honor of Banned Books Week, which runs September 24-30.

This event will be in E104 at Kent Campus.
